CGX is a UK retailer that buys, sells and trades new and pre-owned tech. CGX partnered with Gravytrain to increase the volume of orders coming through its website without letting acquisition costs run away, in a market where long-established competitors keep prices high. Growing volume profitably meant looking for efficiencies at every stage rather than simply spending more: targeting the right price points, making sure the right products appeared in the right campaigns, and expanding only once each part of the account had proven itself.

The Challenge

The challenge is that the tech resale market is saturated. CGX competes against traditionally established companies with well-known brands, which drives up costs across the vertical. Winning more orders on a modest budget couldn't come from solely outbidding those competitors; it had to come from spending more precisely than they do, with efficiency and volume given equal weight in every decision.

Bulk Coffee's real advantage was its offer: wholesale pricing with no minimum order, a proposition that appeals to trade and home buyers alike. Rather than competing head-on for every search, the strategy needed to put that offer in front of the people most likely to value it, and to scale only what had proven it could pay its way.

Getting the Foundations Right

In a product-led account, what Google shows is only as good as the data behind it. Our first priority was the product feed: careful management of feed labels and ongoing feed maintenance ensured that every product appeared in the correct campaign within a segmented strategy.

That segmentation is what makes the rest of the account work. With products grouped cleanly, we can push into different price points depending on stock levels and demand, and alongside strategic bidding and careful keyword and audience planning, it keeps spend focused on high-intent traffic rather than spread thinly across the whole range.

Scaling That Works

With the feed and campaign structure in place, we grew the account in a controlled way:

  • Targeting expanded into new price points, establishing the account in each one while keeping efficiency and volume at the forefront.
  • Feed labels used to segment products by price point, so campaigns can respond to changes in stock volume and demand.
  • Each campaign established and performing well before any further expansion, so every step is backed by reliable data.

The Results

On average, the account has grown conversions by 84%, revenue by 36% and clicks by 118% month on month. More traffic is reaching the site, and it is converting strongly, a clear sign that keyword and audience research is bringing in high-intent visitors rather than just volume.

The controlled expansion has also made the account far more measurable. We can now report on performance by price point and see which products attract the most purchase intent, which feeds directly into bid management and budget allocation.

What This Shows

CGX wanted more orders at a sensible cost, not volume at any price, and that is exactly what the account is delivering, even while competing against established names with deeper pockets.

It's a pattern we see across product-led accounts in competitive markets: growth comes from clean feed data, a clear campaign structure and expanding only as fast as the results allow. That's the principle we apply to every account we run.
